The AHL announced today the Checkers forward Andrew Poturalski has been added to the Atlantic Division’s roster for the 2019 AHL All-Star Classic.

He will replace teammate Janne Kuokkanen, who will be unavailable for the event.

“[Kuokkanen] has had some nagging injuries so Carolina and him decided not to go to the All Star Game. I think the rest will do him good.”

This marks the first career All-Star selection for Poturalski, who is tied for third in the AHL in points (42) and ranks sixth in assists (25), leading the Checkers in both of those categories as well as goals (17). Poturalski is also tied for the league lead in overtime-winning goals and is tied for second in game-winners.

The 2019 AHL All-Star Classic will take place on Jan. 27 and 28 in Springfield, MA. Poturalski will join his teammate Trevor Carrick and his coach Mike Vellucci at the event.
