The Hurricanes today announced a new ECHL affiliation with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

The move comes after Carolina’s longtime partnership with the Florida Everblades ended this past season. The Swamp Rabbits, who were previously affiliated with the New York Rangers, played the 2018-19 season as one of two ECHL teams without an NHL affiliate.

Greenville will now serve as Charlotte’s primary source of reinforcements when the need arises. In fact, eight different players appeared in games for both Charlotte and their ECHL affiliate last season and five players on the roster when the team raised the Calder Cup had logged ECHL time during their careers.
