One of the biggest pieces of Charlotte’s playoff run last season is returning to the organization as Greg McKegg has signed a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina.

McKegg was acquired from Pittsburgh at last season’s trade deadline in exchange for Josh Jooris. The 26-year-old was lights out during his 19-game tenure with the Checkers, recording at least one point in all but two contests and finishing with a total of 23.

A third-round pick by Toronto in 2010, McKegg is heading into his seventh pro season. The Ontario native has totaled 170 points (76g, 94a) in 291 career AHL games with Toronto, Portland, Springfield, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Charlotte, as well as 13 points (7g, 6a) in 91 NHL games with Toronto, Florida, Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh.
