The Checkers added some more depth to their blue line Monday, recalling Derek Sheppard from the ECHL’s Florida Everblades.

In his first ECHL action of the season, Sheppard logged three assists and nine penalty minutes in three games for Florida. He now returns to Charlotte, where he has appeared in 11 games so far this season and recorded 27 penalty minutes.

In another move, the Checkers have assigned Cedric Lacroix to the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits. He was recalled prior to this weekend’s series, as the Checkers had a handful of players with questionable statuses, but the forward served as a healthy extra in each contest. Lacroix, who has nine games played with Charlotte this season, heads back to Greenville where he has 14 points (5g, 9a) in 20 games.
