Ahead of their extended road trip, the Checkers have recalled Spencer Smallman from the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

The 23-year-old appeared in three games for the Swamp Rabbits, picking up a goal and an assist along the way. He now returns to Charlotte looking to make his season debut after recovering from an injury that limited him to just 12 games last season.

A fifth-round pick by Carolina in 2015, Smallman has six assists in 12 career AHL games and 15 points (3g, 12a) in 17 ECHL games over his three pro season.

The Checkers kick off a five-game road trip over the next two weeks with a matchup in Hershey on Friday.
