As they regain health up front, the Hurricanes have assigned Lucas Wallmark to Charlotte.

The Swede made his season debut for Carolina on Dec. 30 and scored his first NHL goal against the St. Louis Blues. He would appear in one more game during his stint, leaving the Canes’ contest against Washington on Jan. 2 with an injury, but has since returned to practice. Wallmark now has three points (1g, 2a) in 10 career NHL games over his first two seasons in North America.

In Charlotte this season, Wallmark has continued to enjoy offensive success, ranking fourth on the team with 23 points despite only playing in 20 games thus far. Prior to heading to the NHL, the 22-year-old had racked up six points in his last five AHL games.
