Mike Condon Added To Charlotte Roster

The Charlotte Checkers today announced that they have received veteran goaltender Mike Condon on assignment from the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning.

Condon, a 29-year-old veteran of 127 NHL games with Montreal, Pittsburgh and Ottawa, has split this season between Tampa Bay’s AHL affiliate in Syracuse and its ECHL affiliate in Orlando, the latter of which was his most recent stop.

The undrafted native of Holliston, MA, played three consecutive seasons in the NHL from 2015-18, totaling a 2.80 goals-against average and .905 save percentage, and also represented the United States at the 2016 World Championship. Since that time, injuries have limited him to just 13 total games played in the last two seasons, including six with Syracuse and four in Orlando this season.

In 63 career AHL games with Houston, Hamilton, Belleville and Syracuse, the 6-foot-2, 196-pound Condon has posted a 31-22-7 record, 2.63 goals-against average, .914 save percentage and four shutouts.

Condon joins the Checkers, whose regular goaltenders Anton Forsberg and Alex Nedeljkovic are on NHL recall to Carolina, on their road trip that continues Friday in Lehigh Valley. That game is the first of a three-in-three set that includes a Saturday rematch with the Phantoms and a Sunday meeting with Hershey.
