The Checkers will be short a defenseman in their next contest as Matt Tennyson has been suspended by the AHL for one game.

The suspension comes as a result of a boarding major assessed to Tennyson in the first period of last Thursday’s win over the Rockford IceHogs.

Charlotte will be without Tennyson, who leads all team defensemen in scoring, for Thursday’s matinee game in Iowa. Even with Josh Wesley heading to Florida last week, the Checkers’ roster still holds seven blue liners, with Dennis Robertson likely drawing into the lineup to fill the empty spot.

Tennyson will be eligible to rejoin the team for Friday’s rematch with the Wild.
