The Florida Panthers made their first two-way signing of the current free agent period as they brought goaltender Philippe Desrosiers back on a one-year contract.
All three of Desrosiers, Driedger and Montembeault remain in the Florida organization behind established NHL No. 1 Sergei Bobrovsky, with Montembeault yet to re-sign as a restricted free agent. Ryan Bednard, who recently split his rookie season between ECHL Greenville and Springfield, also remains in the fold.
Now entering his fifth professional season, Desrosiers owns a 33-28-3 record, 2.78 GAA and .913 SV% in 72 career AHL games with Texas and Springfield. The Dallas Stars’ second-round draft choice in 2013 has also appeared in 106 career ECHL contests with Idaho and Norfolk.
In junior hockey, Desrosiers, a 6-foot-1, 198-pound native of Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, earned CHL Goaltender of the Year honors during a championship season with the Rimouski Oceanic in 2014-15.
