After leading the Checkers to back-to-back series sweeps, goalie John Muse has earned CCM/AHL Player of the Week honors.

Muse, who the Checkers reacquired on the day of the NHL trade deadline on Feb. 29, started all four games for Charlotte this week and earned the win in each one, capped off by a 26-save victory over the first-place Rockford IceHogs to push the Checkers back into a playoff spot on Sunday. The netminder finished the week with a goals-against average of 1.72 and a save percentage of .920.

This marks the third time that Muse has earned Player of the Week honors in his five-year AHL career, as he won the award twice during the 2013-14 campaign. He is one of three Checkers players to have earned the honor, along with Dan Ellis and Zach Boychuk, and the only player in franchise history to win it multiple times.

Muse stands as the Checkers' all-time leader in wins (58) and games played by a goaltender (113) and is tied for the all-time mark in shutouts (seven). He signed with the Texas Stars this past offseason but rejoined the Checkers in exchange for future considerations. Since rejoining the team, Muse has appeared in all six games and has started the last five.
