The Charlotte Checkers today announced that they are expecting to set a new single-game attendance record on Saturday. Limited tickets remain in the upper level of Time Warner Cable Arena as the team plays the first of back-to-back games against the Rockford IceHogs at 7 p.m.
The Checkers’ current attendance record is 13,102, set in a game against the Oklahoma City Barons on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012. Since moving to Time Warner Cable Arena in 2005, the Checkers have hosted over 12,000 fans on eight separate occasions.
Saturday’s game and Sunday’s 1 p.m. rematch with Rockford mark the Checkers’ last games at Time Warner Cable Arena before moving to Bojangles’ Coliseum for the 2015-16 season. The first 6,000 fans to arrive on Saturday will receive a souvenir puck courtesy of Bojangles’ and Charlotte’s Got a Lot that celebrates the team’s historic return to the venue for its home opener on Saturday, Nov. 7.
