In their final preseason tune-up, the Checkers failed to generate much offense on the way to a 4-1 loss at Norfolk Scope Arena.

After falling behind early in the second period, newcomer Alex Aleardi capitalized on a two-man advantage and knotted the game at one. The Checkers were unable to keep the Admirals at bay, however, as they went on to notch three unanswered goals and cruised to a 4-1 victory.

The Admirals’ powerplay unit struck twice on five chances, including the eventual game-winner, and the team outshot the Checkers 36-25. Rookie Daniel Altshuller, making his first appearance at the AHL level, was in net for Charlotte and stopped 32 of the 36 shots he faced.

Following an overtime victory yesterday, the Checkers split their preseason home-and-home series with Norfolk. The team will now prepare this week for their 2014-15 regular season opener at Milwaukee on Friday, October 10th.
