The Checkers announced today that they have recalled Ben Steeves from the ECHL’s Savannah Ghost Pirates. The 22-year-old forward posted two points (1g, 1a) in eight games for Charlotte at the end of last season.
Prior to that Steeves spent two years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he recorded 62 points (45g, 17a) in 72 games and was named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team in 2022-23 and the NCHC Second All-Star Team in 2023-24.
Fresh off two road wins to start the season, the Checkers are hosting the Cleveland Monsters for their home-opening weekend, starting with a 7 p.m. tilt on Friday.
