The Checkers have recalled netminder Daniel Altshuller from the Florida Everblades.
After his most recent NHL stint, where he backed up Eddie Lack for one game with Carolina, Altshuller headed back to the ECHL where he began this season. The second-year pro made one start during his short stay with Florida, surrendering four goals on 27 shots in a loss to Norfolk.
Altshuller returns to the Checkers with a team-best 2.55 goals-against average and .913 save percentage in 19 appearances. After starting the season with a red-hot 9-1-1 stretch, he fell into a slump along with the team over the last month, and is currently in the midst of an 0-5-2 skid.
The Checkers will retain goaltender Anthony Peters, who has backed up Drew MacIntyre during the first two contests in this six-game road trip. Charlotte is coming off a 4-2 win last night in Grand Rapids that snapped their franchise-worst 10-game winless streak and will again face off with the Griffins tonight.
