The Carolina Hurricanes have assigned Charlotte Checkers goalie Alex Nedeljkovic to the Florida Everblades of the ECHL.

Nedeljkovic, a second-round pick by Carolina in the 2014 draft, has played three seasons in the OHL with Plymouth, going 65-57-16 with a 2.88 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. Following the end of his 2014-15 season with the Whalers, he signed an entry-level contract with the Hurricanes and reported to Charlotte.

The 19-year-old spent the last week practicing with the Checkers, which, including fellow newcomer Rasmus Tirronen, gave the team four goalies on the roster. The move to the Everblades will likely give Nedeljkovic more reps and possibly some game action.

Because of the AHL's age policy, Nedeljkovic would not be eligible to play for the Checkers next season. If the netminder does not make the Hurricanes out of training camp, he would return for another season of junior.
