As training camp draws closer, the Checkers have added another forward to their stable, signing Zach Nastasiuk to a one-year, two-way deal.
The 23-year-old Ontario native split last season between Toledo and Grand Rapids. Nastasiuk put up 17 points (8g, 9a) in 30 ECHL games with the Walleye while notching five points (1g, 4a) in 20 AHL appearances with the Griffins. Overall Nastasiuk, who was selected in the second round of the 2013 draft by Detroit, has totaled 14 points (4g, 10a) in 64 AHL games and 71 points (31g, 40a) in 102 ECHL games throughout his three pro seasons.
Prior to turning pro, Nastasiuk spent four seasons in the OHL with Owen Sound, racking up 187 points (89g, 98a) in 256 games. The winger also captured a gold medal with Canada at the 2013 U-18 World Junior Championship.
