Following tonight's victory over the Devils, the Hurricanes have assigned Brendan Woods to Charlotte.

Woods, a second-year forward out of the University of Wisconsin, made his NHL debut tonight, registering 6:10 of ice time and firing one shot in Carolina's 2-1 shootout win in New Jersey.

A fifth-round pick in 2012, Woods is tied for fourth on the Checkers in points with 13 (6g, 7a), establishing a new career-high just 29 games into the season.

Both Charlotte and Carolina will now enjoy a holiday break until Saturday, when the Checkers will travel to Texas to take on the Stars and the Hurricanes will head to Tampa Bay to face the Lightning.
