The Checkers’ thin offensive corps is getting a boost as the Hurricanes have reassigned Brody Sutter back to Charlotte.
Sutter wrapped up his second stint with Carolina this year in last night’s shootout loss to the Islanders. After logging a career-high seven games with the Hurricanes this season, the fourth-year pro now has 11 NHL games under his belt, though he is still looking for his first point.
With the Checkers this season, Sutter has slid nicely into his new two-way role without losing his offensive pop. The 24-year-old has put up 21 points (11g, 10a) in 63 games thus far with Charlotte.
The Checkers return to action Friday against the Texas Stars as they continue to battle San Jose for the final playoff spot.
