The Carolina Hurricanes reassigned defenseman Danny Biega to Charlotte on Saturday.
Biega, recalled following a significant injury to the Hurricanes’ James Wisniewski, did not play in Carolina’s loss to Detroit on Saturday. Travel permitting, he could be available for Charlotte’s road rematch against the Iowa Wild on Sunday.
The move leaves Charlotte with eight defensemen on its roster. Rookie Tyler Ganly made his professional debut in the Checkers’ season-opening, 4-1 victory over the Wild on Saturday, while Jake Chelios sat as a healthy extra.
