One day after returning Brendan Woods to Charlotte, the Carolina Hurricanes have recalled center Brody Sutter from the Checkers.
This marks the 24-year-old’s first NHL recall this season. Last year, Sutter made his NHL debut and logged four games with the Canes, going scoreless.
With Charlotte this season, Sutter has racked up 11 goals, one shy of his career high, and 21 points and has been a mainstay down the middle for the Checkers.
In a separate transaction, the Checkers recalled Erik Karlsson from Florida. The rookie forward appeared in three contests with the Everblades, going scoreless.
Even with the loss of Sutter, the additions of Woods and Karlsson will keep the Checkers’ roster full. The moves now leave the Checkers with two healthy extras at forward, while Brock McGinn and Dane Fox continue to recover from injuries that caused them to miss each of the last two games.
