Checkers defenseman Michal Jordan is heading to Carolina.
The Hurricanes announced this morning that they have recalled Charlotte’s captain as they prepare to square off with the Florida Panthers Wednesday night. If in the lineup, Jordan would play his first NHL game since Feb. 24, 2013.
Former Checkers defenseman Brett Bellemore was placed on injured reserve this morning after getting hurt during Saturday's game against Colorado, prompting the recall of Jordan.
Jordan, a 24-year-old veteran, now in his fifth professional season, has played five career NHL games, all with Carolina in February of 2013. He has been recalled one other time this season but did not play a game. The native of Zlin, Czech Republic, has seven points (2g, 5a) in 15 games with Charlotte this season.
