As they prepare to embark on a four-game road trip, the Hurricanes have recalled rookie center Patrick Brown.
Brown began his first professional season in Carolina, appearing in four games and averaging 9:37 of ice time. Following Thursday’s loss against the Rangers, the Hurricanes sent Brown down to the Checkers, where he made his AHL debut, suiting up for the two games against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The 22-year-old is now being tapped to rejoin the Hurricanes as they head out on a seven-day, four-game road trip through Canada. Carolina’s corps of injured players will be making the trip and some could make their returns during the excursion, but Brown will provide them with some depth, should it be necessary. Meanwhile, the Checkers, who are off until heading out for two games in Iowa on Friday and Saturday, now have 12 forwards plus the injured Justin Shugg.
Brown scored 15 goals and earned 15 assists (30 points) in 40 games while serving as team captain during his senior season at Boston College before signing with Carolina as an undrafted free agent in the offseason.
