This year's first-round pick has made the decision to turn pro and join the Carolina organization.
In front of fans at their Summerfest celebration, Noah Hanifin inked a three-year, entry-level contract with the Hurricanes. In signing the deal, the blue liner has forgone his remaining eligibility at Boston College and will turn pro next season. As a college product, Hanifin, 18, is not bound to the AHL's age restriction and could play for the Checkers next season, should the Hurricanes assign him.
Hanifin totalled 23 points (5g, 18a) in 37 games during his freshman season at Boston College. He finished the season ranked third in the NCAA in socring among freshman blue liners and earned Hockey East Second Team All-Star honors.
