The Charlotte Checkers today have assigned goalie Callum Booth to the ECHL’s Reading Royals.
The second-year pro has gone 3-1-0 in five appearances this season for Charlotte, logging a 2.27 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage. The 21-year-old spent the majority of his rookie season in the ECHL with the Checkers’ affiliate, the Florida Everblades.
The Everblades currently have Jamie Phillips and fellow Hurricanes prospect Jeremy Helvig as their goaltending tandem. With Scott Darling joining the Checkers yesterday, sending Booth to Reading, the ECHL affiliate of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, would seemingly allow for the netminder to get more ice time.
