On the morning of the NHL Trade Deadline, the Hurricanes acquired Vincent Trocheck from Florida in exchange for NHLers Erik Haula and Lucas Wallmark, as well as current Checkers Eetu Luostarinen and Chase Priskie.
Priskie ranks fourth among rookie defensemen and is tied for 12th among all AHL defensemen with 31 points (6g, 25a) in 52 games for the Checkers this year. Originally picked in the sixth round by Washington in 2016, the Florida native signed with Carolina over the summer after being named a Hobey Baker Award finalist in his final year at Quinnipiac.
Luostarinen has 25 points (8g, 17a) in 44 games with the Checkers this season, his first in North America after signing with Carolina over the summer. The 21-year-old Finn also picked up one assist in eight NHL games for the Canes.
The 26-year-old Trocheck has recorded 36 points (10g, 26a) in 55 games for the Panthers this season.
