After a weekend with the Checkers, Eetu Luostarinen is headed back to the NHL.
The rookie forward has one assist in three NHL games this season and now rejoins the Hurricanes as they prepare to visit Chicago on Tuesday.
Luostarinen appeared in both games against Hershey this past weekend for Charlotte, picking up an assist in Friday’s win. So far this season the 21-year-old has put up eight points (5g, 3a) in 12 games for the Checkers.
The Checkers’ extended road trip continues Wednesday in Lehigh Valley. While they could be without Luostarinen, they should have the veteran presence of Brian Gibbons back in the lineup, as he was assigned to Charlotte over the weekend.
