With their California road trip in the books the Hurricanes have assigned forward Saku Maenalanen and goalie Alex Nedeljkovic to Charlotte.
The 24-year-old Maenalanen made his NHL debut Friday night in Carolina’s win over Anaheim. He now returns to Charlotte where he has logged 11 points (4g, 7a) in 27 AHL games this season.
Nedeljkovic backed up Petr Mrazek in Friday’s win, filling in for an injured Curtis McElhinney. The netminder currently still holds the AHL lead with 12 wins for the Checkers this season.
After beating the Hartford Wolf Pack 7-4 last night, the Checkers will wrap up their road trip Saturday with a visit to the Springfield Thunderbirds.
