The Checkers have added to their forward depth heading into the weekend road trip by recalling Zach Nastasiuk from the Florida Everblades.
The 23-year-old inked an AHL deal with the Checkers this offseason and has recorded 14 points (6g, 8a) over 21 games with Florida so far this season. A second-round pick by Detroit in 2013, Nastasiuk has logged 14 points (4g, 10a) in 64 AHL games with the Grand Rapids Griffins over his career.
Nastasiuk joins Steven Lorentz as the second forward recalled from Florida today by the Checkers, who visit Hartford tomorrow and Springfield on Saturday. With Aleksi Saarela ruled out for the weekend, the Checkers currently have 14 healthy options at forward heading into the trip.
