After an extended stint with the Checkers, Phil Di Giuseppe is headed back to the NHL, as the Hurricanes have recalled the forward.
With 20 points in 33 games, Di Giuseppe has been an offensive force during his time with the Checkers this year. His 10 goals tie him for third on the team and sit just one behind his career high despite him only appearing in a fraction of the games.
The 23-year-old now returns to the NHL, where he has logged 18 games during two previous stints this season with a goal and an assist under his belt.
The Checkers currently hold 12 healthy forwards on their roster heading into this afternoon’s contest in Milwaukee, with Patrick Dwyer suffering an injury during warmups before Friday’s game. Ty Rattie, who was waived by Carolina yesterday and would have joined the Checkers today had he cleared, was claimed off of waivers by St. Louis.
