It was a familiar sight in San Diego Wednesday night as the Checkers and Gulls played beyond regulation for the third straight meeting. And for the third straight meeting it was the Checkers who emerged victorious, this time thanks to the heroics of California native Patrick Khodorenko.
The Checkers added a pair of goaltenders ahead of tonight’s game in San Diego, recalling Evan Cormier from the ECHL’s Florida Everblades and signing Matt Zenzola to a professional tryout contract.
The Checkers split a weekend series with the San Jose Barracuda to start their California road trip, extending their win streak to five games with a victory on Friday before suffering a setback in Sunday’s rematch.
