QUICK HITS
ON A HEATER
Coming off a two-game sweep of the Phantoms this past week, the Checkers have now won eight of their last 10 contests. This most recent strong stretch is part of a lights-out run for Charlotte over the last few months - in fact, the Checkers are 16-5-0-1 since Dec. 22.JAM PACKED
Those two victories over Lehigh Valley helped lengthen the gap between the Checkers and the trailing Phantoms and Thunderbirds, as well as catapulting Charlotte closer to the top of the Atlantic. The Checkers sit six points behind the second-place Bears and nine points behind the division-leading Bruins.BOWLBY LIGHTS THE LAMP
After scoring five goals in his first 43 games this season, Henry Bowlby has found his scoring touch and lit the lamp in each of the last three contests. That streak stands as the longest of his career.OFFENSE RAMPS UP
With their 4-1 win over the Phantoms on Wednesday, the Checkers have now scored at least four goals in seven of their last nine games. They’ll face a tough test in Hershey, as the Bears - powered by the league’s goals-against average leader Hunter Shepard - as allowing the fewest goals per game in the AHL. Opponents have been finding success as of late, however, giving up at least three goals in four of their last six games.FINISH STRONG
Even with their last game as the outlier, the Checkers have scored at least one goal in the third period in eight of their last nine games - and in four of those instances they pumped in three in a single period. Across the league, the Checkers are one of just four teams to have scored at least 500 goals in the third period this season.COMING IN
