With their season finished, the Checkers have assigned forward Alex Aleardi to the Florida Everblades, as they embark on the Kelly Cup playoffs.

The 22-year-old Michigan native spent the majority of his 2014-15 campaign in the AHL with the Checkers, recording 23 points (12g, 11a) in 48 games, all career-highs for the second-year forward. His 12 goals tied him for fifth on the team, despite playing significantly fewer games than the players ahead of him.

Aleardi spent 16 games with Florida this season, racking up 19 points (8g, 11a) in his short time there. He rejoins the Everblades as they begin their journey to the Kelly Cup. Florida ran away with the East Division of the ECHL with a 49-16-7 mark this season and have a 2-0 lead in their first-round series with the Orlando Solar Bears. Game three is tomorrow night in Orlando.

The Checkers' season came to an end Saturday with a 7-3 win in Grand Rapids. After returning to Charlotte, the players had their exit interviews Monday morning before heading to their respective homes for the offseason.
