Drayson Bowman’s most recent stint with the Checkers has come to an end as the forward signed a contract with Dusseldorf of the German league (DEL) on Monday.
Bowman, the Carolina Hurricanes’ third-round draft pick in 2007, recorded four points (2g, 2a) in 16 games after rejoining the club on a professional tryout contract on Oct. 23. Except for a stint with the Montreal Canadiens organization last season, the 26-year-old native of Littleton, CO, has spent the majority of his career with the Hurricanes, posting 82 points (41g, 41a) in 146 career games with Charlotte and 33 points (15g, 18a) in 179 total games with Carolina.
Bowman is tied for 10th on the Checkers’ all-time scoring list and ranks seventh in goals.
The move leaves the Checkers with 11 healthy forwards, though Carter Sandlak and Brendan Woods could potentially be ready to return at the conclusion of the holiday break on Dec. 28.
