The Hurricanes completed another trade late Wednesday night, acquiring Erik Haula from Vegas in exchange for Nicolas Roy and a conditional fifth-round pick.
Roy, 22, departs Charlotte having put up 74 points (28g, 46a) over 141 AHL games. The Quebec native set a career high with 17 goals last season and was a key contributor in the Checkers’ Calder Cup run, tying for fourth on the team with 15 points (6g, 9a) in 19 contests. Roy, who was taken in the fourth round of the 2015 draft by Carolina, appeared in seven NHL games during his time in the Hurricanes organization – six of which came last season.
Haula, 28, has recorded 151 points (73g, 78a) over 357 NHL games for Minnesota and Vegas. The Finn missed most of last season due to injury but set career highs in goals (29), assists (26) and points (55) in 2017-18 for the Golden Knights.
