NOTABLES
1) STREAK HALTED
All-in-all the Checkers turned in a very strong home stand, coming away with nine of a possible 12 points over the last two weeks. Sunday’s loss brought an end to a stellar run, however, as the Checkers had been on a six-game point streak that was tied for their longest of the season. It also stood as just the fifth regulation loss that Charlotte has posted since Dec. 22.
2) OVERTIME STRUGGLES
The Checkers had their seventh game of the season go beyond regulation on Saturday, and it was the fifth to be decided in overtime. The loss moved them to 1-4 in games that have ended in overtime this season, tying them for the fewest overtime victories in the AHL. Springfield’s victory was its sixth of the season, tying the Thunderbirds to the most overtime wins in the AHL.
3) POWER'S BACK
After tying their season-long drought by going three straight games without a power-play goal, the Checkers were able to convert in each contest against Springfield, going 2-for-9 on the man advantage over the weekend. That surge keeps Charlotte near the top of the league rankings, with the Checkers clocking in at number three with a 22.6 percent success rate.
