The Checkers' captain is returning to Charlotte.
The Hurricanes announced Tuesday morning that they had reassigned defensman Michal Jordan back to Charlotte after calling him up prior to Monday's tilt with the Calgary Flames.
Carolina brought Jordan up as insurance in case Tim Gleason or John-Michael Liles were not available for that night's game against Calgary. All three took pre-game warmups and Gleason and Liles were ready to go, leaving Jordan as a healthy extra. He found himself in the same situation last season, where he was called up and took warmups but did not make it into the game. Jordan has appeared in five NHL games with the Hurricanes, all in the 2012-13 season, and recorded no points and two penalty minutes. His last NHL game was Feb. 24, 2013.
The 24-year-old Czech native will now return to a Checkers team that is coming off one of their biggest wins of the season, downing the defending champion Texas Stars by a score of 3-1 on Monday night. Jordan has two assists in 10 games with the Checkers this season.
