Not that the Checkers want to see their captain reassigned from the NHL, but it is coming at a convenient time.
The Carolina Hurricanes announced Thursday that defensemen Michal Jordan will return to Charlotte and be available for that night’s game against the Iowa Wild.
With the move, the Checkers are guaranteed to have the full allotment of six defensemen, something they may not have had if Rasmus Rissanen is unable to return from an injury that caused him to make an early exit from Wednesday’s 4-1 victory over Iowa. Had Jordan not returned, Charlotte would have needed to make a hasty recall or signing from the ECHL level in time for tonight's rematch.
Jordan, 24, has missed the Checkers’ last two games while on recall to Carolina. His latest stint was his most productive yet, as he recorded his first three NHL points (1g, 2a) in just three outings. He has played a career-high 19 NHL games this season after totaling just five over his previous four professional campaigns, all within the Carolina organization.
The native of Zlin, Czech Republic, has 10 points (2g, 8a) in 29 AHL games this season, his first as the Checkers’ captain.
