The Checkers added a piece to their depleted back end by recalling Josh Wesley from the Florida Everblades.
The 22-year-old has logged five points (3g, 2a) and eight penalty minutes in 16 ECHL games this season. Wesley split last year between the Checkers and Everblades before suffering an injury that ended his season. A fourth-round pick in 2014, Wesley has logged 27 AHL games over his career and notched a goal and an assist along the way.
The move comes after Trevor Carrick was recalled to the NHL following Carolina’s win over Florida Friday night. With the addition of Wesley the Checkers have six healthy options on the blue line, as Josiah Didier remains sidelined with a broken hand.
