After clearing waivers, the Hurricanes have assigned forwards Marcus Kruger and Josh Jooris to Charlotte.
Kruger, 27, recorded six points in 48 games with Carolina this season, his first with the team. A two-time Stanley Cup winner with Chicago, Kruger is in his seventh season as a pro in North America, amassing 111 points (34g, 77a) in 446 NHL games. The Swede has logged 22 points (8g, 14a) in 34 AHL games over his career, all of which came with Rockford during the 2012-13 season.
Jooris, 27, also recorded six points in 30 games during his first season with Carolina. The Ontario native, who has skated in 203 NHL games and recorded 55 points (23g, 32a), was last in the AHL in 2014-15 when he appeared in two games with Adirondack. The year before that Jooris registered 27 points (11g, 16a) in 73 games as a rookie with the Abbotsford Heat.
The duo’s status for tonight’s contest is unknown. The Checkers kick off a six-game home stand at 7:15 against the Springfield Falcons.
