After earning his first NHL recall of the season, Trevor Carrick is headed back to Charlotte as the Hurricanes have assigned the blue liner to the Checkers.
Carrick made his season debut for Carolina last night in New York, dropping the gloves for his first NHL fight. The Hurricanes, who recalled Carrick after placing Brett Pesce on IR and losing Haydn Fleury to a concussion, don’t play again until visiting Montreal on Tuesday.
Carrick has enjoyed a hot start for Charlotte this season, entering today tied for fourth among league blue liners in scoring and tied for second in helpers. Prior to being recalled, Carrick had recorded seven assists over his last four games.
The Checkers wrap up their holiday home stand with a 1 p.m. rematch against the Laval Rocket on Sunday.
