The Hurricanes extended qualifying offers to all but one of their eligible players prior to the deadline on Tuesday.
Of the players who played in Charlotte last season, forward Clark Bishop, defensemen Roland McKeown, Trevor Carrick and Haydn Fleury and goalie Alex Nedeljkovic were all qualified, keeping their status as restricted free agents.
Bishop, 23, recorded six points (3g, 3a) in 38 games during his third season with Charlotte while also making his NHL debut and logging 20 games with the Hurricanes.
McKeown, 23, set a career high with 25 points (4g, 21a) in 70 games for Charlotte and led the team with a plus-30 rating.
Carrick, 24, finished last season as the franchise’s leader in games played, as well as the leader among defensemen in assists and points. The All-Star blue liner set career highs last year in assists and points last season, ranking second and fourth on the team, respectively, and added 12 points during the postseason run.
Fleury, 22, split his third pro season between the NHL and AHL, putting up 10 points (2g, 8a) in 28 games with Charlotte to go along with one assist in 20 games with Carolina.
Nedeljkovic, 23, is coming off a stellar year in Charlotte that saw him lead the AHL in both goals-against average and wins en route to earning a spot on the league’s First All-Star team and being named the AHL’s Most Outstanding Goalie.
The only eligible player to not receive a qualifying offer is defenseman Josh Wesley, who will now become an unrestricted free agent.
NHL free agency officially begins on July 1.
