After losing both James Reimer and Petr Mrazek to injury last night, Carolina has recalled Alex Nedeljkovic and Anton Forsberg from Charlotte.
This marks the first NHL recall of the season for Nedeljkovic. The 24-year-old made his first NHL start last season, earning a 24-save win over Vancouver in 2018-19. Prior to that Nedeljkovic had appeared in one NHL game during the 2016-17 campaign.
In his fourth pro season, Nedeljkovic – who was named the AHL’s Most Outstanding Goalie last season – is 15-10-2 for the Checkers with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage. A second-round pick in 2014, he is also tied for third in the AHL with four shutouts this season.
This marks the first recall of the season for Forsberg. The 27-year-old, who was acquired from Chicago and signed by Carolina over the summer, has logged 45 NHL games over his career with Columbus and Chicago. Most recently, Forsberg appeared in 35 games for the Blackhawks during the 2017-18 campaign.
A native of Sweden, Forsberg is 14-9-2 this season for Charlotte with a 2.94 goals-against averafe and a .904 save percentage.
In corresponding moves, the Checkers have recalled Callum Booth and Jeremy Helvig from the ECHL.
Booth, 22, has logged three games for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits this season and is currently playing for the Atlanta Gladiators, where he is 4-5-0 with a 3.52 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. A fourth-round pick by Carolina in 2015, Booth has appeared in 14 career AHL game for Charlotte, including 10 last season.
Helvig is 13-11-3 with a 3.65 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage with Greenville this season. The 22-year-old has also logged three games with Jacksonville.
A fifth-round pick in 2016, Helvig has suited up for one AHL game over his career, picking up a win in his lone appearance last season.
