The Checkers came up empty in a three-in-three for the first time in their history this past weekend, causing them to lose their playoff position for the time being.
A busy period of transactions continued Friday with the Hurricanes recalling defenseman Ryan Murphy just prior to the start of the Checkers’ three-in-three weekend.
In playoff position with just seven games left to play, the Checkers can clearly see the finish line. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve cleared the final hurdle.
