Thanks to a dismal month of November, the 2013-14 Charlotte Checkers had to play catch-up all season. Against the odds, they managed to do just that, but with a little too much time left on the clock.
As the Checkers reconvened for their exit interviews on Monday, most spoke of taking several weeks to decompress, forget about hockey for a while and enjoy the North Carolina weather that’s still considerably nicer than back home.
With other teams in the race playing their games in hand on Wednesday, the Checkers now have a clearer picture of where they stand heading into the regular season's final weekend.
