When the Checkers took the Bojangles’ Coliseum ice this morning, it almost looked as if the team was having an optional skate, given the number of participants. But the reality was that the Checkers are simply dealing with an abundance of injuries.
After spending their first 10 games of the season on the road, the Checkers finally made their return to Bojangles' Coliseum for their opening weekend. They split two games with the Manitoba Moose, rebounding after a tough loss Saturday to clinch a last-minute win on Sunday.
With injuries mounting on defense, the Checkers have recalled rookie Justin Agosta from the ECHL’s Florida Everblades. He expected to be available to make his AHL debut during Sunday’s game against Manitoba.
The Checkers returned to the historic Bojangles’ Coliseum Saturday night, but couldn’t muster up any offense as they fell to the Manitoba Moose by a score of 3-0.
