The Charlotte Checkers received the American Hockey League’s Award of Excellence for Community Service at the annual Board of Governors’ meeting in Hilton Head Island, S.C., this week. Including a win last season, the organization, which has contributed $3.5 million to the Charlotte community since Michael Kahn took ownership in 2006, has now won the award three times in their five AHL seasons (2011, 2014, 2015).
The Charlotte Checkers today announced that they contributed more than $300,000 to the Charlotte community through cash and in-kind donations during the 2014-15 season. They have now totaled $3.5 million since Michael Kahn took ownership of the team in 2006.
The American Hockey League announced today that Kyle Hagel of the Charlotte Checkers has been selected as the winner of the Yanick Dupré Memorial Award as the 2014-15 IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year.
