After two weeks off, the Checkers finally played their first home games of the season at Time Warner Cable Arena last weekend, though they did not go as well as hoped.
There’s no replicating game action, but the Checkers feel as though they’ve done as well as they possibly could under some strange, strange circumstances.
At this time one year ago, Mike Murphy couldn’t have been further from the Checkers’ starting job, both figuratively and in terms of actual, physical distance. Things have changed very quickly.
Left with only one goalie since Carolina brought up Justin Peters earlier this week, the Checkers recalled Jesse Deckert from the ECHL’s Florida Everblades.
