Through events, fundraisers, monetary contributions from the team’s foundation and the help of fans, the Charlotte Checkers donated $323,094 to local charities and non-profit organizations during the 2011-12 season.
The Checkers have awarded two local schools each with $5,000 in technology upgrades, which will consist of $2,500 cash from the team’s foundation and $2,500 worth of products and software donated by Microsoft.
The Checkers recently contributed more than 400 volunteer hours and $16,000 in monetary and in-kind donations throughout their daily community service program, “15 Days of Giving," presented by Lowe’s.
The Checkers kicked off the 2012-13 season in giving fashion with “15 Days of Giving," presented by Lowe’s, visits to Extreme Ice Center for youth hockey practice and a special fundraiser by Chubby for Special Olympics North Carolina.
