Eamon Powell picked the perfect time to score his first goal of the season, lighting the lamp 2:13 into overtime as the Charlotte Checkers (30-17-4-0) won 3-2 over the Springfield Thunderbirds (20-25-5-2) on Friday night at MassMutual Center.
The Charlotte Checkers (29-17-4-0) rallied for a point, but lost 4-3 in overtime to the Bridgeport Islanders (22-23-3-4) on Wednesday night at Total Mortgage Arena.
