The Checkers have recalled defenseman Dennis Cesana from the ECHL's Savannah Ghost Pirates.
Cesana, 28, has posted seven goals and 33 assists in 69 games with Savannah this season. The North Providence, RI, native leads all Ghost Pirates players in assists and power-play assists (14). He's appeared in 93 AHL games in his career, all with Charlotte, recording 15 points (one goal, 14 assists).
In addition to his regular-season appearances with the Checkers, Cesana has skated in nine postseason outings, including six with the club during the 2025 Calder Cup Playoffs. The 5-foot-9, 188-pound blueliner signed a one-year, one-way AHL contract with the Checkers on July 5.
The Florida Panthers have recalled defensemen Marek Alscher and Ludvig Jansson from the Checkers.
Alscher, 22, has registered three goals and eight assists in 51 games with Charlotte this season. The Kladno, CZE, native is in the midst of his second professional campaign with the Checkers, totalling 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) in 104 appearances. The 6-foot-3, 196-pound defenseman is yet to make his NHL debut; he was drafted in the third round (93rd overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Panthers.
Jansson, 22, has scored three goals and added seven assists in 29 games with the Checkers this season as an AHL rookie. The Stockholm, SWE, native has posted four points in his five games, scoring in Charlotte's 5-1 victory over the Toronto Marlies on April 4. Jansson was selected in the fourth round (125th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Panthers. He is yet to appear in an NHL game.
The Checkers have signed goaltender Tyler Muszelik to an amateur tryout (ATO).
Muszelik, 21, appeared in 35 games at the University of Connecticut this season, logging a 19-11-5 record with a 2.21 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. The Long Valley, NJ, native’s 967 saves this season ranked fifth-most in the nation.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound netminder played two seasons at the University of Connecticut (2024-25 to 2025-26) and two at the University of New Hampshire (2022-23 to 2023-24). In 78 outings over his collegiate career, Muszelik amassed a 40-27-10 record with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.
Muszelik signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers on March 30, commencing with the 2026-27 season. He was drafted by the Panthers in the sixth round (189th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
The Florida Panthers have assigned defenseman Mikulas Hovorka to the Checkers.
Hovorka, 24, has recorded four goals and 12 assists in 53 games this season. The Prague, CZE, native is in the midst of his second AHL campaign in Charlotte, totalling 26 points (7 goals, 19 assists) and a plus-23 rating in 113 appearances. The 6-foot-6, 229-pound defenseman has skated in three games this year with the Panthers, making his NHL debut on February 5 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
